Description |
Stamp: Embossing tool used to stamp the seal of the first version of the Tippecanoe Historical Society. The stamp produced is round with the text around the outer edge, "TIPPECANOE HISTORICAL SOCIETY / LAFAYETTE SEAL INDIANA". In the center is a profile portrait of William Henry Harrison with the name "HARRISON" underneath. The tool is iron that has been painted black with gold trim. There is a star with a red interior and gold border on the body of the tool. The handle on top is pulled down to press the two disks of the seal together around a piece of paper. The stamp disks are made of a gold colored metal. Text on the top disk reads, "GEO. J. MAYER / MAKER / INDIANAPOLIS". There are holes in the front and back of the base used to nail or screw the tool to a table top. Measures 7 1/2" x 2 1/2" x 12 1/4". |
